Development Projects Practice

ITS Global designs and implements training programs on trade policy capacity enhancement, focusing on the Asia Pacific region. The consultancy manages and mobilises interdisciplinary and international research and training teams on trade policy analysis, advice, negotiation and implementation. ITS Global has been a managing contractor for multimillion dollar aid programs to provide assistance to enhance capacity in economic governance.

More than 18 donor-funded project activities and training programs have been undertaken over the last 15 years. Projects have been funded by AusAID, UNDP, The Japanese Ministry of International Trade (METI), the British development Agency (DFID), the APEC Secretariat and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

ITS is supported by a network of associated consultants who are specialist in trade and economic policy. Consultants work collaboratively with a range of organisations in the Asia Pacific region in a harmonious and successful way.

  • Enhancing trade policy analysis and research on WTO and FTAs in the Mekong Region (2005 – 2008)

    ITS Global consultants are currently Project Director, Trainers and Mentors on a major trade analysis and reform project to assist Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand with multilateral, regional and bilateral trade policy analysis and research capacity. ASEAN TARP is being funded by AusAID and implemented by Cardno ACIL Australia in association with ITS Global.

  • Strengthening Capacity of Vietnam’s Agriculture Sector to integrate into the global economy (2004-2006)

    ITS Global conducted an AusAID funded Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture training program to enhance the capacity of officials to provide for international integration of Vietnam’s agriculture sector associated with its WTO accession process and recently concluded bilateral free trade agreement with the US

  • Enhancing the capacity of the Lao PDR to participate in the global trading system and accede to the World Trade Organisation (1997-2002)

    ITS Global managed a four-year project to enhance the capacity of economic governance in Laos to prepare for its membership of the WTO as well as the ASEAN Free Trade Area for UNDP. It was funded by AusAID.

  • Development of a program for APEC to enhance the capacity of developing country members of APEC to implement WTO obligations (2000 – 2001)

    In 2000 ITS undertook a comprehensive review for the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry of the capacity of developing Asian economies in APEC to meet WTO obligations The programs were t endorsed in APEC as a Japanese proposal to enhance the WTO trade capacity of developing countries.
